in full size but download option is not available but the fact is that it automatically downloaded when you click on your friends profile picture...

it is automatically stored in following location on your SD card
/sdcard/WhatsApp/Profile Pictures

Steps to download your friends profile picture:
STEP 1:
            click on your profile picture and view on it's profile picture.
STEP 2:
            Go to file manager and open following location
            /sdcard/WhatsApp/Profile Pictures
STEP 3:
           profile picture of your friend clicked by you is stored in above location with him contact name now move your friends  profile picture any other location.
